TPSF has always advanced election advocacies and political awareness programs, the most recent of which was during the 2010 Philippine Presidential Elections. Less than a year to go before the 2013 Midterm Elections, TPSF is here again to spearhead the voter education advocacy in the University of Santo Tomas and beyond the campus walls.
The Political Science Forum provides avenues for fellow Thomasians to articulate their thoughts on this mechanism of democracy, and to help them properly understand the power that lies in their hands --the power of the ballot.

THE OFFICIAL KICK-OFF
For the 2013 Midterm Elections, TPSF will be launching its campaign "TOMASINO PARA SA PILIPINO 2013" in line with the UST Apathy-Free advocacy. No less than the honorable Commissioner Rene Sarmiento will grace the kick-off ceremony on August 30, together with Prof. Edmund Tayao, one of the country's leading Political Analysts and a product of UST Political Science, and H.E. Ambassador Henrietta De Villa, President of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV). VOTERS EDUCATION 'INSIDE AND OUT' TPSF will also be conducting voter education series both within and outside the campus. The advocacy intends to serve both Thomasians and the University's partner communities, in coordination with UST Simbahayan. THOMASIANS AS FIRST TIME VOTERS With more than 40,000 students in the University, we expect many will be first-time-voters in 2013. TPSF aims to provide them sufficient knowledge on how the election will be done, how do they register as voters, what they need to remember, and more importantly, how to examine their choice of candidates in light of the democratic power that belongs to them through the right of the ballot. This advocacy is under the supervision of the TPSF Committee on University-wide Projects and Advocacies, under the Office of the President. |
